The 4th generation Skyline (C110) nicknamed Kenmeri after a series of TV commercials featuring a western looking couple “Ken & Mary”, was the first model developed after the merger of Nissan Motor Co with Prince Motor Co. This model was a ‘make or break’ development for the newly formed Nissan. With exhaust regulations expected to tighten in the future, car development was focussed on compliance rather than performance. In the face of strong headwinds for sports cars, the Kenmeri GT-R (KPGC110 model) was released in January 1973, four months after the standard model.
